Chorleywood Primary School

Curriculum 2016

At Chorleywood Primary School we work hard to create an environment where the children find the learning process an exciting, challenging and stimulating experience. By personalising the learning for all pupils and giving them ownership of their learning they will reach their full potential. We therefore provide a range of educational opportunities in order to deliver a broad and balanced curriculum. We develop the whole child through their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development alongside their academic achievements.

The curriculum is differentiated to meet the needs of all learners. We challenge all pupils regardless of their starting point and ability. We provide additional support for any child who needs it to secure good pupil progress.

The Foundation Stage for Early Years Education covers seven areas of learning and three learning characteristics.

Religious Education is also an integral part of the National Curriculum, we follow the Hertfordshire Agreed Syllabus. A number of educational visits and the use of visitors support our work in the classroom, which provide an exciting stimulus to the children’s studies.

We are currently following the Read Write Inc. phonics scheme.

Each area of the curriculum is led by a member of staff to monitor delivery and improve pupil outcomes.  Should you require any additional information relating to any areas of our curriculum, please contact our school office.
